Our company is committed to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and is dedicated to contributing its part to achieve them. The SDGs are a set of 17 global goals established by the United Nations in 2015 to address a wide range of global challenges, including poverty, inequality, climate change, environmental degradation, peace, and justice. These goals aim to create a better and more sustainable future for all by 2030.
FertigHy specifically focuses on following SDGs

Goal 2: Zero Hunger
Zero Hunger – Mineral fertilizers feed about 50% of the global population every day. FertigHy aims to increase food production more sustainably, enhance food security, and increase resilience to disruptive supply chain events.

Goal 7: Affordable and Clean Energy
We are committed to using clean and renewable energy for our plants, focusing on full-integrated low-carbon fertilizers manufacture from low carbon hydrogen by electrolysis using low carbon and renewable electricity, eliminating the need for natural gas or ammonia imports.

Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth
Our company fosters inclusive and sustainable economic growth, employment, and decent work for all. FertigHy’s will create in each plant 2000 jobs during construction / 250 direct employees in operation / 750 indirect.

Goal 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure
We invest in resilient infrastructure and promote innovation to drive sustainable industrialization. FertigHy is a greenfield new investment of €1.3 billion for a Giga-factory. It will have the first large-scale low-carbon nitrogen-based fertilizer plant in Europe.

Goal 13: Climate Action
We take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts by reducing our carbon footprint and adopting more sustainable alternatives. FertigHy’s will avoid up to 1 MtCO2 eq/yr. compared to Natural Gas based Nitrogen fertilizers.

Low-carbon fertilizers
The European agriculture sector significantly contributes to greenhouse gas emissions, accounting for about 10% of the EU’s total emissions. A major factor in these emissions is the use of nitrogen fertilizers, with European farmers applying over 11 million tonnes annually…

Sustainable Agricultural Practices
Today, mineral fertilizers are pivotal for 50% of global food production. Enhancing agricultural yields while maintaining environmental stewardship is a critical challenge for the coming years, and mineral fertilizers play an essential role in feeding the planet…
